Liz Donlan...

formed Spider Communications in February 2011. Liz began her working career as a Shorthand-Typist at Withington Hospital in South Manchester, having gained 100pwm in shorthand and Grade II with Distinction in typewriting. She remained in the NHS for 17 years having climbed up the ladder from Shorthand-Typist to Personal Secretary, from Finance Assistant to Decision Support Assistant and culminating in Deputy Operations Manager at Hope Hospital, Salford.

Liz then decided to branch out on her own and formed her own Desktop Publishing company, providing secretarial and printing services to small businesses in North Manchester. This also included the launch of a bi-monthly magazine on marine fish which was sold all over the world. This was so successful that she gave up the desktop publishing side to concentrate on the magazine.

Certificate in Business Studies
Her interest in fish led to working part-time for an aquatics store handling the accounts and administration work and, then, ultimately buying the company. During this time she also decided to start studying for a BA (Hons) in Business Studies with the Open University. Along the way she has gained a Certificate in Business Studies (Open).

Although she had a basic knowledge of website design, part of her studying involved data, computing and information which ignited her interest in website design again.

Understanding
In view of her varied experience Liz understands the requirements of the small business and is confident that Spider Communications can help your business grow.
